CHEFS STANDING ON YOUR TABLE

CHEFS STANDING ON YOUR TABLE
VIDEO BELOW:  Creative restaurant design can transform a restaurant. However the memory of the experience and food from a high performing kitchen, is usually what lingers long after the interior designer's wallpaper has faded.

Technology in a restaurant has revolutionised how food is prepared and served. Faster and more succulent is our expectation. The initial importance of the decor on opening night can become an alarming concern a few months later - when the diners fail to return. Their curiosity about your restaurant was satisfied but their appetites weren't.

I'm not going to banter on about what works and what doesn't on this occasion, however every now and then (while on our global search for solutions) we see something that makes us sit up and look a little closer.

Le Petiti Chef was created by Skullmapping - a film and animation company in Belgium. It was initially a demo concept to illustrate the possible use of 3D projection mapping techniques.
The idea of a miniature chef dancing on the dining table and pulling food from under the table cloth went viral.

Each video (see below) takes approx 3-4 weeks to create at a high detail level. In this video the animators used a Panasonic PT-VZ570U 3 LCD projector for Le Petit Chef – Dessert, providing 4,800 Lumens, a 10000:1 Contrast and weighting 4.8 kg.
The purchase cost for your average restaurant can be prohibitive as multiple ceiling mounted projectors are required for each table. This is in a addition to the animation creating costs.

Our question to you: Would you pay for the illusion of hologram technology to excite your diners at the table?

So next time you consider hiring an interior designer for the front of house designs of your cafe or restaurant, ask yourself "am I focusing on the right part of my restaurant for long term profitability?".

Perhaps you should be focusing on the efficiency and technology of your kitchen design and overall operations, your ability to maintain a dynamic menu and training of your highest calibre chef and wait staff. Or anything else that can engage your diners to keep them coming back to new and exciting experiences.
Choosing the paint colours is the easy bit!
